It’s been an epic 1233 days in Xiaomi, and today marks the date where I transit from employee back to Mi fan.
When I took up the offer more than 3 years ago (after an interview with Hugo in a hotel lobby), it was a no-brainer to just uproot myself and fly straight to Beijing within 7 days of signing on. There, I met my boss, mentor and friend, Amanda who taught me so much (thanks!) in my early days in the company. I’ve enjoyed myself so much that I never felt I worked a single day in the last 3 years.
The first couple of months blew past in an instant, where Judy, Norman, Joshua and myself were pushing the brand hard into our own markets.
As more people joined our social media team, I transited to help other markets like Philippines and India launch as well.
I love social media, and I love working with this brand and team. Having come from ad agency, I am excited and highly motivated to bring creativity to our social executions.
And now, after the countless launch events I’ve been through, it’s about time I moved on. The original crew I hustled with are all gone now, and I’m also super happy that those I’ve brought in to Xiaomi (Cheryl Ang, Zhi Lei, Joyce Huang) have found new friendship and also progressed (or are progressing) on to more exciting opportunities elsewhere.
There’re too many people to be thankful for and too many memories to share, and I’m glad for the experiences I’ve had in Beijing with everyone. These 1233 days have been truly epic and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time here in Xiaomi, but it’s also time for me to move on and seek to do the best work I can give.
I don’t have plans yet, and I will be taking a break to travel a bit in the meantime, but I’m super excited for what’s to come.
I look forward to transit back to my role as a Mi fan, and will be supporting this brand I love from afar.
Lastly, always believe something that wonderful is about to happen.
See you on the other side! 😉
